Dr Paul Collins —
Psychiatrist & Neurodivergence Specialist
Dr Paul Collins is a psychiatrist with over a decade of clinical experience across general adult, forensic, and older adult psychiatry. His NHS roles have included ward leadership, crisis intervention, community mental health, and psychiatric care in prison settings. He is currently based in West Dorset, working within the Home Treatment Team and providing independent assessments under the Mental Health Act.
Paul brings a unique and holistic approach to mental health and neurodivergence — one that blends clinical depth with a background in anthropology, social enterprise, and systems design. Alongside his medical qualifications (MBBS, MRCPsych), he holds a BA in Social Anthropology and has a long-standing interest in how context, meaning, and social systems shape wellbeing.
As someone with ADHD, Paul works from both lived and clinical insight. This emic perspective enables him to meet clients with clarity, humility, and genuine understanding. He recognises how neurodivergent experiences can be misinterpreted or overlooked, especially in high-performance environments and institutional settings.
Paul’s therapeutic approach is relational, reflective, and non-pathologising. He offers individuals a safe space to explore their own narrative, free from assumption or judgement. He is particularly skilled at supporting people navigating ADHD, burnout, complex life transitions, and emotional overwhelm — with a focus on psychological formulation, clear communication, and trust.
Paul also works with organisations to design meaningful adjustments for neurodivergent staff, going beyond compliance to build inclusive cultures of awareness and care.
Whether working one-to-one or at a systemic level, Paul’s guiding principle is the same: to meet people as they are, support them in reconnecting with their own coherence, and walk alongside them with presence and integrity
